Inquire of the Lord

As God speaks to Jeremiah about what is to come upon the people of Israel, he gives him instructions on what the people are to do. One of His instructions was to have the people inquire of the Lord for help and direction.

The shepherds are senseless and do not inquire of the Lord; so they do not prosper and all their flock is scattered. Listen! The report is coming—a great commotion from the land of the north! It will make the towns of Judah desolate, a haunt of jackals.
– Jeremiah 10.21-22

Because the shepherds were senseless and did not seek the Lord, God caused their flocks to scatter. This brought about “a great commotion from the land of the north” to “make the towns of Judah desolate.”

For what things in our lives are we to “inquire of the Lord”?

We should be seeking the Lord in all aspects of our lives. When we are seeking direction, inquire of the Lord. If there are decisions to be made, inquire of the Lord. During those times of family struggles, inquire of the Lord.

He wants to hear us calling out to Him, seeking His wisdom, and heeding His directions as we listen to Him.

Are there any struggles you are facing today that could stem from not seeking the Lord?

Are we having issues in the home, at work, at school, in our relationships, etc.? Has God attempted to speak to you for direction, but were not open to His leading?
