Find Endurance in God

God spoke to Jeremiah about some of the events that were to come upon the people of Israel. Because of their sins, God warned them that they were going to experience punishment, but gave them a way to find endurance in and through Him.

Woe to me because of my injury! My wound is incurable! Yet I said to myself, “This is my sickness, and I must endure it.” My tent is destroyed; all its ropes are snapped. My children are gone from me and are no more; no one is left now to pitch my tent or to set up my shelter.
– Jeremiah 10.19-20

Through the punishment to come, the people will have to endure injury and sickness, and will see destruction of people and possessions across the land.

This goes along with what we looked at in Matthew 24 concerning the signs of the end of time. If the people want to endure the pain of the time to come, they will need to stand firm. “The one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”

What can we do to endure when we experience injuries, sickness, and destruction in our own lives?

One way to endure is to simply call out to God. He knows our needs, but it is still important for us to cry out to Him. He is the One who can help us through anything that comes our way.

Along with calling out to God, we will need to stand firm in the faith. It is in Him, and only in Him, that we will be able to endure.

What are some things we have learned or can learn through hardships?

Many times, as we go through the hardships if life, we can look back and see that things were not necessarily as bad as they seemed. This is true for most hardships we face.

Also, we can take comfort in the fact that God has a plan for what we are going through. Again, if we look back, many times we will see the hand of God orchestrating the events we encounter in our lives.

Are we facing any challenges today? How is God helping us, working in us, through the challenges we are facing? Can we trust in Him to do what is needed and necessary to bring about His plans for us?
