In Joshua 10, we see the final destruction of the Amorite armies and their five kings. We are going to look at this story from the perspective of destroying the sins in our lives. One thing we can do in this battle is to be diligent and work hard to rout out the sin.
The battle was won at Gibeon. However, the conquest was not complete. Because of this, the armies of Israel continued to pursue the Amorite armies. By determination and force, the Israelites continued the work until the armies were completely routed out of the land.

In the same way, we cannot be delicate in our response when God reveals the sin within us. Whether it be a blatant sin against God and man, or a sin that may appear to be of little significance, we must deal with sin in all seriousness and force.
From murder to gossip, and adultery to lying. From the gravest of actions, to the impure thoughts and motives of the mind. Whatever God reveals in as sin, we will need to address it. No matter the significance of the sin, God is wanting to help us rout it out of our lives completely.
When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are forgiven of our sins by His work completed on the cross. When God looks upon us, He no longer sees the sin. Instead, He sees the blood of His Son. However, the sin that is covered by the blood of Christ still can impact and affect our life. The effects of sin can hamper our relationship with God, our brothers and sisters in Christ, and all within our sphere of influence.

What is the sin that we are battling today? What help do we need to rout it out of our lives? How can the family of God help in the matter? How can we be praying for God’s help in overcoming the sin?
Just a Thought…
