God used Jeremiah as a prophet to be the spiritual leader to the people of Israel. His experience is a great example for us to follow… to be the spiritual leaders that our communities need.
As Jeremiah was working with the people, God gave him the following directions from Jeremiah 13.18-20…
Say to the king and to the queen mother, “Come down from your thrones, for your glorious crowns will fall from your heads.”
The cities in the Negev will be shut up, and there will be no one to open them. All Judah will be carried into exile, carried completely away.
Look up and see those who are coming from the north. Where is the flock that was entrusted to you, the sheep of which you boasted?

God was saying that if Judah’s royalty would submit and surrender to God, then surely the people of the kingdom would follow. This holds true in any aspect of leadership.
Whether our leaders are in politics, communities, education, home, school, etc., the way of the leader will have a great impact on the people under them. Godly leaders doing the right things will bring about positive results with those involved. God’s message continued in verses 21-22…
What will you say when the Lord sets over you those you cultivated as your special allies? Will not pain grip you like that of a woman in labor?
And if you ask yourself, “Why has this happened to me?”— it is because of your many sins that your skirts have been torn off and your body mistreated.

God was letting His people know that from their unfaithfulness that they would be violated by their conquerors, or they would be humiliated and exposed for their continual spiritual adulteries.
What we need to remember is that we are the examples to those in our families and communities. Are we representing the person of Jesus Christ with our words and actions? How might our lives affect the spiritual lives of those around us?
Just a Thought…
